Baby and Pre-school swimming lessons

  • Baby swimming lessons are for children between 3 months old (must be over 12lbs in weight) and 2 and a half years old. The baby will be in the water with their parent/guardian. Lessons are 30 minutes in duration and are £8 per lesson based on a 10 week booking. There will be up to 6 parent and child in each class. Parents will need to provide both their and the baby's personal details before the first lesson.

  • Lessons will contain elements of fun and structure. Babies will develop water confidence and safety precautions while at lessons with the assistance of their parent/guardian. The parent/guardian attending the lesson does not need to be able to swim and in cases where there is an issue with water confidence in parents/guardians the instructor will ensure the lesson is adapted to accommodate everyone and you will never be put in a position that you don't feel comfortable with. All instructors will posses a first aid qualification for both babies and adults so you will have 100% peace of mind that you and your baby are in good hands.

  • Babies will not learn to swim at baby swimming lessons, the purpose of these lessons are to give babies water confidence and to learn simple practices like floating positions, breathing and kicking which are key for when they start to learn swimming technique. Swimming with your baby is said to be one of the best ways to bond with them while you mutually enjoy the experience.

  • Babies that attend baby and pre-school lessons are more confident when attending mainstream lessons at 2 years and 8 months which means they are able to start learning swimming techniques right away and spend less time on water confidence exercises. People ask "Can you notice progression in a child so young" and the answer is YES, ABSOLUTELY! It really is fascinating to watch a baby progress to a stage where they are relaxed, happy and playful in the water after only a short time of swimming lessons.
